Battle Of The Books is coming......

Battle Of The Books is an awesome way to read books, learn about literature and DO BATTLE with others!

Sign up with a team of 3-5!
See Ms. Johnson in the LIBRARY TODAY!
Sign up ends on Friday, September 27.

FOR BATTLE YOU WILL NEED:

  • A Battalion:  A group of 3-5 readers to form a Battalion (team) made up of people in Grades 6-8.  This works best if you talk to each other first and sign up as a team.  The whole team needs to come to Ms. Johnson to sign up.
  • The Right Attitude:  Sometimes Ms. Johnson has to add people to your group or take them away so everyone who wants to participate, can.  Also, sometimes groups of friends don’t always get along well.  Keep on collaborating, communicating, and encouraging!
  • Access to Books:  The books are in the library.  You’ll need your library card.
  • Time to Read:  Time to read books on the Battle list.
  • Regular Practice:  Time to meet with your Battalion about once a week to read together and quiz each other.
                                                                    In the Library

SEW- Day 2

What special gifts do you have?
In what ways can you offer these gifts to our community?

These are 2 questions we explored today during our group sessions.

We explored how the differences in our group makes us stronger.

Imagine being stranded on an island with only people who wanted to hunt food. Who would cook it? Who would make shelter? Who would make sure there was clean water?
We used this example today to realise that by fulfilling different roles in groups we serve our community.
This makes our community stronger and thrive!

Spiritual Emphasis Week... S.E.W.

Today was Day 1 of Spiritual Emphasis Week.
This is a time where we stop regular classes to solely focus on the Spirituality of the students.
It is a great 3 days of activities, group time, devotions, guest speaker and praise time.
The praise band has really been doing a great job in leading us in songs today. We had time to get to know each other today, as well as play some group games.

Soccer at Chadwick and... Science lessons at TCIS

Girls Soccer in 6-8...

The girls travelled to Chadwick International this past Saturday (9/7/2013) and represented TCIS extremely well. They showed great sportsmanship, a positive attitude while playing and managed to win a couple games and tie a pair of games as well. Their coaches, Mr. McDougall, Mrs. Poole, Mr. Moore and Mr. Yuan were very proud of our girls at their first jamboree of the year!

The science page has also been updated with 2 experiments and pictures. Click on the Science tab and then click on the PE tab to see some soccer action from class via new video's of Grade 6 in action.

Touch Rugby Jamboree at GSIS

On Saturday morning, TCIS ES and SS travelled to GSIS to play Touch Rugby.
Many 6th Graders have been playing this sport in ES and it was a good opportunity for them to help some new students to also learn about the game.

It was a really FULL day for the players with 6 games and some teams playing 3 and 4 games back to back.
Thanks must go to the coaches, Mr Karsten, Mr McDougall, Mr Henderson and Mr Zickefoose for giving their time after school and on the weekend for our students.
