Nominations can include but are not be limited to the following:

- demonstration of any of the ESLR's (caring, open-minded, risk taker, communicator, knowledgeable, reflective, inquirer, principled, balanced, thinker)
What recent outstanding features qualify this student for this award?
- servant attitude and spirit
- involvement in extracurricular activities
- academic effort / growth / excellence in subject areas
How does this student contribute to TCIS is a positive way?
- growth and / or excellence in behavior
- participation in extra activities / clubs / sports
For the month of September, 3 students were nominated, so teachers voted to decide who would be the winners.
Two students polled votes equally and were recipients of Student of the Month.
Congratulations go to...
Brandon Cho
He proved himself to be a communicator during the Bible unit by providing interesting and appropriate illustrations to his book project. He also turned his work in on time.
He is respectful and caring to his classmates and is a risk taker. He has investigated new opportunities for learning and growth in Grade 6.
In Visual Arts, he has been working hard to keep up with a demanding project. He has challenged himself in the classroom and has improved his communication skills so far.
In Science, he has shown strong interest and personal growth in understanding the nature of the scientific inquiry, availing himself as a true risk-taker.
He has remained open-minded in class, trying new activities, listening to others and listening to the teacher’s feedback. He is always willing to accept advice to improve and tries his best to put the advice into action. His cheerful disposition and positive attitude makes the class a great place to be.
He is a good model of the ESLR’S and has made a smooth transition into 6th grade. Congratulations on being a positive member of the TCIS community.
Daniela Duvel
She does a great job ensuring that she understands what is expected of her, by listening carefully and asking clarifying questions. She demonstrated the ESLR of ‘caring’ by helping those around her understand what is expected of them.
She is very organized and respectful to others, thorough in her school work, and positive in her attitude. (And a mighty fine artist too!) She is never late for class or assignments, showing she is also principled.
She has demonstrated herself to be an open-minded learner in Mandarin class by showing her interest and respect to different cultures. She always listens to others first, and then give comments or her personal opinion.
In PE classes she has shown perseverance even when activities have been challenging. She has maintained a positive attitude and tried new tasks to the best of her ability by being a risk taker. She is a quiet, positive undercurrent in the class.
Congratulations for making such a positive start to 6th grade and for making a great contribution to TCIS through your everyday behaviour and attitude.
